Accessibility Statement

We want everyone to be able to use this website, whatever their device or ability.

Last updated: 6 May 2026

Who this applies to

This accessibility statement applies to 1stforresscouts.co.uk, the website of 1st Forres Scout Group (Scottish Charity SC043071).

How accessible this website is

We've designed this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That means it should be:

  • Usable with a keyboard alone — no mouse required
  • Compatible with screen readers (NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
  • Readable when zoomed to 200% without breaking the layout
  • High enough in colour contrast for low-vision users
  • Free of seizure-triggering animations — and respectful of "reduce motion" settings
  • Available in a dark theme as well as light

Known issues

We're being transparent: there are areas we know aren't perfect yet, and we're working on them.

  • Embedded forms and calendars. Some forms (Gift Aid) and the calendar embeds rely on third-party services. We've worked to make our own pages accessible; the embedded content may not match the same standard.
  • Older photos. Some images on the site may not yet have detailed alt-text. We're adding descriptions as we audit our image library.
  • PDF documents. Any downloadable PDFs may not be fully tagged for screen readers. Where this matters, contact us and we'll provide an accessible alternative.

What we're doing to improve

  • · Auditing pages with the axe-core tool as we add new content
  • · Adding alternative text to all imagery in our photo library
  • · Reviewing keyboard navigation and focus order on every new feature
  • · Considering accessibility in every design decision — typography, contrast, motion

Reporting a problem

If you spot something that isn't working for you — a page that doesn't read properly, a form you can't complete, an image that needs a description — please tell us.

Email: info@1stforresscouts.co.uk

Or use our contact form. We aim to respond within 5 working days.

Asking for content in another format

If you need information from this website in a different format — large print, easy-read, audio, or printed copy — please get in touch using the contact details above.

Technical information

This website is built using semantic HTML, modern CSS, and progressive-enhancement JavaScript. It works without JavaScript for most content, though some interactive features (forms, calendars) require it.

We test with current versions of:

  • Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge — desktop and mobile
  • iOS Safari with VoiceOver
  • Android Chrome with TalkBack
  • Windows + NVDA
