Scouts — 1st Forres

About 1st Forres Scouts

We're Scouts and everyone's welcome here. Since 1908, we've been helping young people in Forres step up, speak up and gain skills for life.

Our story

1st Forres Scout Group was established in 1908, just one year after Robert Baden-Powell held the very first Scout camp on Brownsea Island. We're one of the oldest Scout groups in Scotland.

Today, we have over 100 young members and around 30 adult volunteers across five sections — two Cub packs, two Scout troops and one Explorer unit. We meet at our Scout Hall on Bank Lane, right in the heart of Forres.

Every week, our young people get outdoors, try new things, make friends and develop confidence, resilience and teamwork. Whether it's camping in the Cairngorms, cooking on an open fire, or volunteering in the community, it's all about gaining skills for life.

Character skills

Resilience, initiative, independence and tenacity. Young people build the character they need to succeed.

Employability skills

Leadership, teamwork and problem solving. Skills that employers value and that give young people an edge.

Practical skills

Cooking, first aid, navigation and coding. Hands-on skills learned by doing, not just reading about them.
